Sorted by price, lowest first. Prices from the booking platform; the price at checkout is the one that counts.

The gold mask of Tutankhamun, the highlight most half-day tours of the Grand Egyptian Museum focus on

A half-day Grand Egyptian Museum tour takes about 3 to 5 hours, hotel to hotel, and covers Tutankhamun and the museum’s highlights. In October 2026, half-day tours on Viator and GetYourGuide started from about US$19 per person. That leaves the rest of your day for the pyramids, a felucca, or simply a rest.

In short

  • Half-day tours: about 3–5 hours with hotel pickup (Viator and GetYourGuide, October 2026).
  • From about US$19; check whether entry is included.
  • Enough for the highlights, not for the whole museum.
  • Pair it with the pyramids in the afternoon or a felucca at sunset.

What can you see in half a day?

The highlights, if you go in with a plan. The museum displays more than 24,000 objects (Wikipedia), so a half-day visit is about choosing:

  1. Tutankhamun’s galleries: over 4,500 objects, the gold mask included (AFP via Khaleej Times, 2025).
  2. The Grand Staircase: about six storeys tall, with more than 60 artefacts.
  3. Ramses II in the Grand Hall.
  4. Khufu’s boat, if time allows.

More in our Tutankhamun guide.

Morning or afternoon?

Morning is quieter in the Tutankhamun galleries, and it leaves the afternoon for the pyramids, open 08:00–16:00 (Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities). An afternoon half-day works on Wednesday and Saturday, when the galleries stay open until 21:00 (GEM ticketing site).

Which half-day tours include entry?

The Book this visit section above lists the half-day tours we checked, sorted by price. Read the entry line on each card: from 1 November 2026, entry costs EGP 1,830 per foreign adult (Egypt Independent), so a cheap tour without it can end up costing more than one that includes it.
